Privacy notice

What the waiting list collects, why we are allowed to, how long we keep it, and how to come off it.

Version 1.0 · effective 30 August 2026

The short version

This site does one thing: it takes an email address so we can tell you when Plate Components opens. That is the only reason we are asking, and it is the only thing we will use it for.

There is no shop here yet, no account to create, and nothing to pay for. We set no cookies, run no analytics, and there are no third-party scripts on this page at all.

Who you are dealing with

Plate Components is a trading name of Paramount Plates Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16366988, whose registered office is at 42 Moorside, Spennymoor, DL16 7EA, United Kingdom.

In this document, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Paramount Plates Ltd, and “you” means the person using this website.

You can reach us at hello@platecomponents.co.uk or on 0191 367 3451, Monday to Saturday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.

What we collect

Only what the form asks for:

  • Your email address. Required — without it there is nothing to tell you on.
  • Your company name. Optional. It tells us whether the people waiting are plate makers, which is what will decide what we stock first.
  • What you are looking for. Optional, free text, and only ever read as a group.

Why we are allowed to

Our lawful basis is your consent, given by ticking the box on the form. We rely on consent rather than legitimate interests because this is a marketing email to someone who has never bought from us — the “soft opt-in” in regulation 22 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations only covers people who have already bought or negotiated to buy, and nobody has.

That means you can withdraw it at any time, and withdrawing is as easy as giving it. Email hello@platecomponents.co.uk, or use the unsubscribe link in any email we send you, and you are off the list. We do not ask why.

When you consent we record the date and time and the version number of this notice as it stood at that moment, so that we can show what you were actually shown. That record is the only reason we keep anything beyond your address.

What we do with it

Your details are written to a database run by Cloudflare, and two emails are sent: a confirmation to you, and a notification to our own mailbox so we know someone has joined.

When we open, you get one email telling you so. Between now and then we may send you a short update if there is something genuinely worth saying. We will not send you anything else, we will not sell or share the list, and nobody else's marketing will ever reach you through us.

The internet address your request came from

Every signup carries the internet address it was sent from. Cloudflare receives it as the company serving this site, and we pass it to Cloudflare's rate limiter, which we ask on each request whether that address has been signing up repeatedly. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in stopping a form that costs us an email send from being flooded.

We record none of it. The address is not written into the waiting list and we do not hold it once the request has been answered. Cloudflare keeps its own request logs as the company hosting this site.

Cookies and browser storage

This site sets no cookies of any kind. It runs no analytics, no advertising tags and no tracking, and it loads nothing from anyone else's server — no fonts, no scripts, no embedded content.

That is also why there is no cookie banner. Regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations only requires consent for storing or reading things on your device, and this site stores and reads nothing. If we ever add analytics, this notice and the site will change first.

Who else sees it

Two providers, and only for the purpose named:

  • Cloudflare — hosts this website and runs the database the waiting list is stored in.
  • Resend — sends your confirmation email and our notification.
  • Google Workspace — our own email, where the notification arrives.

Where your data goes

Those providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, transfers are covered by the UK's international data transfer agreement or addendum, or by the provider's certification under the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

How long we keep it

Until we have told you we have opened, or until you ask to come off the list — whichever comes first. Once you are a customer, a different notice will cover that relationship and this one stops applying to you.

If we have not opened within two years of the date at the top of this notice, we will delete the list rather than sit on a set of addresses collected for something that did not happen.

When you unsubscribe we keep one thing: a note that this address asked to come off, and when. That is so we can show the request was honoured, and so that nothing except you filling the form in again yourself can put you back on. Ask us to erase that note too and we will.

Keeping it safe

Access is limited to the one person who runs the business. Accounts holding this data are protected by two-factor authentication. Data in transit is encrypted, and our providers encrypt it at rest.

If a breach happens that is likely to risk your rights, we will tell the Information Commissioner within 72 hours and tell you without undue delay.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, and ask for it in a portable form. Because we rely on consent, you can also withdraw it at any time.

Email hello@platecomponents.co.uk and we will answer within one month. There is no automated decision-making and no profiling.

Giving us your details is entirely optional. There is nothing on this site you lose access to by not joining the list.

Complaining to the regulator

You have the right to complain to us first, under section 164A of the Data Protection Act 2018. Email hello@platecomponents.co.uk and we will respond.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

ICO, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF. Helpline 0303 123 1113. ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

We would rather you told us first, but you do not have to.
